I have been mooning over this manicure over on pinterest (pun intended.)  I decided to give it a try with some subtle colors for my senior recital back in April.  I love the way it turned out!  It was just as easy as it looks and is a great way to jazz up a simple mani.

To say the last few weeks have been busy would be a major understatement.
I have been sick back to back with sinus infections, migraines, major allergies, and a horrible stomach flu. 
But there have also been some great times in past few weeks...

Last weekend was The Sound of Music...  I donned my old lady make-up and habit and was ready to go!

So I am going to have some of my fabulous friends help me with a senior pictures/headshots photoshoot, so I have been collecting inspiration!  I have found so many fun ideas, it's hard to decide which direction to go!  Here are some that I love:

This evening I decided to lay on my deck and look at the stars. 
And I didn't just see a black sky with specks of white. 
I saw the hand of a loving Heavenly Father in creating something just for me. 
I saw the beauty of the universe. 
I saw something that someone on the other side of the world can also look up and see. 
I saw a promise that if the Lord can keep the vast heavens in complete order, He can do the same with my life.

And in that moment I forgot all the troubles and worries and stress that sometimes threaten to overwhelm. 
In that moment I remembered the promise that a loving Father in Heaven gave to me:

"I will never leave thee, or forsake thee."

1. egg nog or hot chocolate? Chocolate. 

2. does santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa is a first class wrapper.

4. do you hang mistletoe? nope...

5. when do you put your decorations up?  the day after Thanksgiving.

6. what is your favorite holiday dish? hmm probably mom's fudge
7. favorite holiday memory as a child?  singing Christmas songs with the family
8. when and how did you learn the truth about Santa?  I can't even remember, but Santa still delivers to my house!
9. do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? yes, Christmas eve is when all the family comes over

13. do you remember your favorite gift? I can't think of a specific one, I love and appreciate all my gifts.

2011 trends to love.

 

Bold lips.  They make me feel so fancy!

 

 

Short locks.  I'm considering cutting my hair off super short, I mean look how cute these looks are!  Maybe I will this break...  Or after graduation...  Or after I get married (someday)...  Thoughts? 

 

Maxi skirts year round.  At the height of 5'2" I should probably avoid skirts that make me look 2x shorter...  Why don't I?  They are sooo comfy!!

 

 

Black on Black.  It is slimming, funky, and can be dressed up or down!

 

 

Nerdy glasses.  I think this one is my favorite.  I may or may not have four pairs of glasses...

 

Sparkle skirts.  As a performer, I naturally love all things sequined and glittery.  (I'm pretty sure that's a requirement.)  These skirts are no exception.  I think I might need one.  Or two.

 

Stacked jewels.  This one can easily go over-the-top, but I like the idea of using complimentary, but not matchy-matchy, pieces to complete and look.

 

 

Big blooms.  I think I wear one about every other Sunday.  Such a fun way to jazz up an outfit!



 

Stripes!  They are everywhere (including my closet.)  And I love them.
